Here is what they say about buying coffee: COFFEE Old coffee has little or no aroma, and it will have an unpleasant or bland taste. When buying from a specialty retailer, ask when the beans were roasted. Coffee is at its best within a few days of roasting. When buying bulk whole beans, ask how long the beans have been sitting in bins. Contrary to common advice, storing coffee in the refrigerator or freezer is not a great idea. It's best stored in an airtight container in a dark, cool place. This is great advice as we begin to enjoy the tastes and feelings of great coffee!!
