It's not that easy...
| We talked with our banker (the SBA banker that is) yesterday and found out that everything looked great: Our business plan was in order, our numbers were reasonable, SBA could really tell we have put many hours into this, and no problems with collateral. The thing they were "concerned" about was experience in a "like business venture." They want management experience. We fixed some of the local guy's concerns by tell him that my wife has been in the restaurant business for 8 years and that we were attending the American Barista and Coffee School where we would get valuable experience. He thought that sounded good and turned it back in to the SBA. They came backing saying they must have 4 years of like business management experience to give us this loan. Wow. Securing a loan is not an easy process and it is a bit frustrating as well. One bank says all they need is for us to put up more collateral, another says the collateral is not a big deal but they want 4 years of management experience. It seems that what they really want is for me already have enough money to start this business before they loan it. I think we have it sorted out however and should know by the end of business today what the terms will be. On we go. ~~be bold |
