After moving ahead with the planning stages of the build out for Cafe Evoke, we have hit yet another speed bump to our progress. The leasing agent came back saying the owner of the company was not happy that we changed our intended use from a "Starbucks-like coffeehouse to a full deli." (Yes, those are exact words) Let me tell you the situation. Before signing the lease, I saw that they had defined what 'art' was in our use but that it just said "coffeehouse" with no explanation. I picked up the phone and called to see if they wanted me to add that we would be having salads, pannini, and soups and she said she would have to make a call. This was a week ago and I had not heard from her so I emailed to see if things went through and that is when she came back saying they would not sign the lease because we changed it on them at the last second. Here is what our business plan says -- which they have. This portion is taking from the very first page and is part of our Executive Summary: "We will serve coffee, sandwiches, salads, and pastries to college students, business people, and everyone in between" This seems pretty straight forward to me. The local leasing agent does not know why they think we are changing this as he gave them this plan before we even began this process months ago. At any rate, we are working this out while we move forward. I think we will be to fix it and make everyone happy. Jenni and I are leaving for Nashville tomorrow and we are already pretty worn out from our last trip. Hopefully it will be more relaxing! ~be bold
