Starbucks vs Their Union

Coffee and Caffeine blog linked today to the article about the charges the National Labor Relations Board has against Starbucks. You can find the whole story here. It is funny how it seems there is an uprising against this giant. I guess that is what happens when you try and take over an entire industry (cough:Clear Channel Radio :cough). Interesting article.

I work at a major tire manufacturig plant. Our plant is non-union. It has been since it opened. We have been trying to get a union since day one. The list of illegal actions done by the company is far too long to list. There have been three union votes over the last few years, all lost, because of the illegal company activity. The findings of the NLRB oneach vote was that there were some questionable company activities, but not enough to warrant action. Basically, the NLRB postion is the company can do whatever it wants, legal or illegal. So since there's no repercussions, anything is fair game for the company. In my opinion, the NLRB is there for the sole purpose of legitimizing non-union actions of companies. It' very discouraging.
