The time has come..
| I have been writing this blog since January, 2005. Although young in comparison to some of my friends from around the net, it feels like it has gone on for some time. We have had some great press and have been included, undeserved in my opinion, in US News and World Report, and on 3 of the top five small business and entrepreneurship blogs. It has been great. For now, however, I am going to take a break. I have come to the conclusion that this blog has lost its focus and mission. It is taking time away that I need to refocus my efforts on the main goal of opening Cafe Evoke and serving this community and the community abroad. I am not sure how long this will last but when you no longer have the words to write, it is time to put it aside. I will re-evaluate my goals and vision for this blog on May 1st when I return from vacation. Until that time, this blog will come to a full stop. It will remain at this address and you can surf around if you would like. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to following this journey. It has taken some crazy twists and turns and we have learned a lot -- even on this beginning leg. I really appreciate all the people that have left comments, sent emails, and linked this site. I have learned more from your insights than I ever thought was possible. Until we meet again. always...be bold Jason Duncan Cafe Evoke and A Thought Over Coffee |

post a commentI started following your blog last week. I began reading your blog from your first post and it was like a good book I couldn't put down. It was interesting to read the ups and downs of launching your business. I'm sorry to see you put the blog on hold just as story gets to the "good stuff". I hope you won't resist the urge to post updates as Cafe Evoke goes from strength to strength and everything comes into focus!
Cheers!
I agree with anonymous -- If you're not driven to write at the moment, I hope you'll at least post pictures of the progress once in a while :) In the meantime, best of luck with Cafe Evoke --
Say it ain't so :-(
I have been reading this blog for a little less than a year. The ups and downs mimic my own as I have followed the entrepreneur path.
I really hope you reconsider and possibly just post less frequently to ease the blogging load.
Let me know if there is any way I can help.
Have fun on vaca
Thanks everyone. It is nice to see that people read this blog! As of now, this parting from A Thought Over Coffee is temporary as I feel there will be much more to talk about once the catering thing is up and as Cafe Evoke nears it's birth.
I will be back May 1st to continue writing -- to what capacity I do not know.
Until then, thank you for the notes!
..be bold
I started to subscribe to US News about a month ago, so I originally didn't see your write-up. However, I visited my parents this past weekend and my father gave me an older issue because I am a CS Lewis fan and they had the article on him. Hence, I came around to reading your article.
I obviously have not followed your blog along the way, but I have enjoyed it. I am considering starting my own business in the future, so it has been nice to learn through your posts the process you've taken (and I will continue to learn by reading back even more).
Please keep us posted with how things are going.
Probably a smart move Duncan - time to concentrate on getting the new business up & running!
Let us know when you open. I'll see if I can organize a "blogger bash" there.
Jason,
It has been a pleasure working with you since day one. Reading about all your progress is motivating to say the least. You are a champ! Keep up all the hard work and enjoy your needed vacation.
JASON!!! It's Beth Allen - long story finding this site. Hope you guys are well and cafe evoke is going great...sounds AMAZING!!! We need to get in touch with yall sometime! much love! beth (& daniel!)
