Just Say No

I heard back from the business insurance people -- finally -- with news that they will not cover us because of the following reasons: 1. Our vehicle that pulls the trailer is insured with another company 2. We are a "new start-up venture" I will take these one at a time. The first reason is crazy. I talked with these people more than two weeks ago and explained what we were doing. They told me that the cheapest and best way would be for us to keep the auto insurance (for both the trailer and my car) with our current auto insurance company. I spent several confusing hours with them (auto insurance) to get this all worked out. Now they tell me that is the reason I cannot get business insurance through them -- go figure. The second reason is something I have heard from the Small Business Administration, 2 banks in town, and now my insurance company. How, exactly, is a business supposed to find money, get insurance, and open if nobody will work with us? I always read about how there are so many VC's ready to give to small businesses but unless you are Silicon Valley with some sort of Tech idea or health care -- don't count on it. They should just say that if you are a small business that sells a service or any type of small inventory retail -- your ways of financing are simple: 1. Credit Cards 2. Friends and Family 3. Personal Investment 4. Bank loans at CRAZY rates I have made several more calls today for quotes so hopefully this will get taken care of but it would not surprise me if they all come back "NO".
