The Marketing Continues
| I did some more marketing yesterday. It feels like it is coming together a bit slow but I am still plugging away at it. I sent about 10 more letters out. This batch includes several to Bozeman area TV and Radio stations, the newspaper, and a few event planners. I will be sending some to caterers in town next week. So far, I have sent 262 letters with brochures and a business card. I have had 4 responses of interest. No gigs from the mailing. I also sent in our application and check for the Bit of Bozeman. It sounds like we are in but I will make an official announcement when the time comes. That will be a great event for us I think. I am still working on the Parade of Homes and a few others so I hope to have some answers in the next several days. I have "resorted" to hanging out our brochures on community bulletin boards around town. While I am not sure if this is really going to do much for us, I will not hurt. The worst thing that could happen is that our name gets out there and people might remember it when the cafe opens. Here's to endurance in marketing. ..be bold |

post a commenti've been reading your blog for a few weeks now and was thinking that maybe handing out random flyers isn't going to give you the best way to market your company. Your ad says "Be original. Be unique" and I'm sure you could apply this to your marketing methods. One way to get people to hold onto a piece of paper with your name on it is to make it valuable ie. when you do a function for someone, give them a card that will give a friend 15% off your catering services. That way it has to be passed on to another person to be used (new customer) and people will hold onto the card with your details. Or serve coffee in really cool cups that people want to keep afterwards (with your logo on of course) for a limited time. Work out who the most influential or trend-setting companies in your area and secure contracts with them, then other companies will follow. When you're small you have to be clever with the budget you have - anyway good luck.
Thanks for your comment. I think you make a great point about advertising. Our material should be unique and orginal -- somethign that will catch people's eye and cause them to act. We also want them to keep our information handy for future situations.
I have found that our most product marketing tools have been events. We have set aside enough of a budget to do 2 or 3 events. These events are to be targed to our target market and will hopefully get people excited while also showing people what we can do.
We have done 1 of these events already and have had many requests for pricing and more information.
Thank you again for your comment and I will see what we can do to created something like you mention -- a card with value.
