    Starbucks and Ethiopia

I'm sure everyone has heard about the situation involving Starbucks and Ethiopia. I am not going to attempt to take on the situation on this blog but I thought it may be helpful to give you a few links so that you can catch up on the situation.

Make up your own mind about who you are siding with -- if at all. While I encourage large corporations to use fairly traded habits in business and to do right by worldly communities, I do see the good that Starbucks has done for American coffee in general. I would like to see them do more, however.

Here are some good places to get started:

  • ABC.com has a piece about the trademark issue.
  • Greenlagirl has a post with a nice collection of commentary about the situation (a great place to start)
  • Coffee Politics is a blog devoted to the issue and more.

Start with these links and let me know if you need more. I would start with the Green La Girl post as it has a nice overview of the entire episode so far.
