    La Marzocco GS3 and Me

Ok, so not me (yet) - But I REALLY want one! I have been reading all sorts of reviews from the lucky folks that got to demo the prototype. The actually machine is still getting approval and does not even have a firm release date as of yet.

I talked with a sales manager at Visions Espresso a few days ago and he said they are taken reservations at $4,500.00 per unit. He also said that they have already pre-sold their entire first shipment (when they make it).

Here are some links to some rave reviews of the machine:
  • CoffeeGeek
  • God Shot
  • CoffeeKid
  • Alt.Coffee
  • I have had a pretty good time on my Simonelli MAC 2000 and my Oscar but I want more. Call it greed, call it a passion. I know it is something. I am also interested in the Marzocco Linea that CoffeeKid Mark Prince got to enjoy. That, too, is not available to US consumers yet and who knows when it will be. I did write a letter to Marzocco about it but have not heard any reply.

At any rate, those are both on my wish list for now. When I will get them? You got me.

Has anyone actually been able to buy a La Marzocco GS3 yet in the US? I can't even get dealers to reply to my email inquiries.

    Hey,

No, they are not yet available as they are stil passing approval.

Many companies are taking pre-orders (including Visions Espresso) but there is no set release date.

David Schomer has a recomendation for it on his website and says that Franke Coffee System North America might be able to help with ordering.

I stopped by Visions Espresso last week to see if they've finally received the machines. They has two that were being prepped for pickup by their lucky new owners. The big surprise though was the price. The machine is now $7,500. Not sure if this reflect the drop in the value of the dollar or just increased production costs. But that's significantly more than the $4,500 that was being quoted just last June.

Wow. Thanks for pointing that. The new price is not only more than it was in June - it is more than you could pre-order it for even after CoffeeFEST Seattle. I guess that was the "pre-order discount" or something.

    I'm sad.

I saw an article in the Seattle Times (I think) that said that Espresso Machine Contractors in Seattle was taking pre-orders at $6,000. I went to their website but it redirected me to Marzoccoman.com where, sure enough, they are selling it for $6,000.

Invest the $7500 and even at a reasonable rate of return you can grab a daily latte almost indefinitely at your local Linea equipped coffeehouse.

I was really looking forward to getting one of these, but $7500 seems insane.
