World Fair Trade Day

World Fair Trade Day is May 10th, 2008: World Fair Trade Day, May 10, 2008, is an international celebration and promotion of Fair Trade. Celebrations are spread throughout 70 countries worldwide. IFAT member organizations, along with Fair Trade shops and networks, host events - including Fair Trade food tastings, talks, music concerts, fashion shows and much more - to promote Fair Trade and campaign for justice in trade. Many communities are celebrating World Fair Trade Day over a period of two weeks, from May 3 to May 18, America’s Fair Trade Fortnight. With you, we hope to involve more churches, synagogues, schools, villages, towns, and cities in Fair Trade than ever before. This year, groups are trying to set the record for the biggest coffee break in history. During this time, people from all over the world will "get together" to sip some Fair Trade coffee, tea or other beverage at the same time - May 10th at 3:00 pm Eastern / Noon Pacific. This would be a great time to bring some Fair Trade Certified coffee or tea with you to work, school or wherever you happen to find yourself and make some for your friends and family.
